Each year our school holds three sporting carnivals to determine not only the best athletes but the best sporting house.
All students turning 8 and older are invited to compete at these three carnivals each year.
In Term One, our annual Swimming Carnival is held at Des Renford Leisure Centre, Maroubra. With races from 50m, 100m, 200m and relays as well as specialty races of backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly there are events for everyone. There is also time for a splash in the wading pool for any non-swimmers.
In late term one or early term two, the school holds a Cross Country carnival at school. The event is a 2km course for students 8,9 or 10, with a longer 3km course for students turning 11 or 12. The course starts inside the school gates, heads out to the reserve next door and returns back onto the oval for the finish line.
Lastly, in term two, Maroubra Bay hold their Athletics Carnival at Hensley Athletic Field in Eastgardens. There are track events including 100m, 200m and 800m and field events such as High Jump, Long Jump, Discus and Shot Putt.
The top athletes in these carnivals go onto represent the school at zone carnivals.
